  • Advised CEO and Google-partnered start-up on legislative strategy, state of California partnerships and technology roadmap for smart city sensor development using Big Data. Helped garner successful $323,000 California Air Resources Board grant for Oakland, CA air monitoring working directly with several NGOs. Assisted in securing $24 million Series A round funding through go-to market strategy development and meeting with investors.

Product/ IOT Start-Up

  • Advised CEO and co-founder on seed-round funding investment targets for zero-waste, ultra-pure beverage start-up (first venture investment from one of world’s largest beverage container manufacturers). Arranged and participated in investor meetings with CEO and co-founder.

Autodesk

  • Assisted global software company with government relations, business development and investment for suite of urban sustainability and smart city tools: building energy, site, mobility and large-scale green infrastructure visualization and analytics. Helped secure project pipeline for Autodesk minority investment, Autocase with Los Angeles Mayor's Office, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power

Municipality of Beijing

  • Provided comprehensive analysis on water supply, water quality, water-energy risks and opportunities, which led to national Sponge City initiative in 30 cities: included supply and demand management, green infrastructure, smart technologies. Assessed and recommended international partners for implementation.

National Government of China (Beijing Office of External Affairs)

  • Provided guidance on climate change treaty strategies leading into COP 21 Paris Climate Agreement, including recommendations for sub-national development, financing and carbon market exchange mechanisms.

World Bank

  • Advised China Program Director on urban sustainability standards and financing, including energy/climate, water, land use, green infrastructure, economic development, transportation, smart cities, and air/water quality.

Homeward Bound/ Blu Homes

  • For affordable housing developer and home builder, created greenhouse gas analysis and custom GHG analytical tool, plus California Environmental Quality Act analyses as part of Environmental Impact Report for complex in Marin County. Resulted in successful Mitigated Negative Declaration.

San Francisco

  • Devised vision and policy for the city’s original Municipal Green Building Ordinance, one of the first in the world.

David and Lucile Packard Foundation

  • Advised CFO and development team in pre-planning for LEED Platinum Foundation Headquarters in Los Altos, CA: One of world’s largest Net Zero office buildings and largest such building in California.

World Resources Institute

  • Provided strategy on shared low-carbon mobility (autonomous vehicles, etc.) center, including multi-million dollar budget, for Stephen Ross (Chairman, The Related Companies) and Ross Center of Sustainable Cities director.

City of Guangzhou, China

  • With urban planning, architectural and engineering firms, helped lead partnership coordinating government-approved master planning for ICT-integrated low carbon economic development, transportation, building sector, renewable energy, industry, climate change mitigation for Nansha new city planned on island district of 1 to 5 million.

US Department of Energy/ Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory/ China Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development

  • Developed methodology and Low-Carbon Eco-City Assessment Tool—the first of its kind--with national US research lab and China Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MoHURD) for application throughout 663 cities of China in planning, designing and financing existing city and building sector development.

US Department of State

  • Under Secretary’s Office, led diplomatic tour of South Korea on green city tech development with national and local government leaders. Advised Korean Land Corporation on standards for new green cities. Developed allied nation partner collateral.

SE Corporation

  • Advised California mixed-use real estate developer at Dos Lagos (Corona, CA) on outreach and market strategy. Researched ratings + marketplace for LEED-ND standards.
